Script Writing for Television & New Media with Julie Poll

(Limited to only 15 attendees)

 We are pleased to offer our esteemed members this one-on-one opportunity with Julie Poll, a talented professional script writer with over 35+ years in the business!    

The seminar will cover the fundamentals of writing for television, comedy and drama, spec scripts and original, for writers who need a refresher course or those looking to learn for the first time.  The differences in writing for network, cable, and streaming will be discussed.

 The seminar will cover:

 Pitching to an agent, producer and other options to get your show picked up and produced.

The importance of the outline which is the guts of your script.  If it doesn’t work in the outline, it won’t work in the script.

Is your story relatable?

Story structure for half hour and hour formats and streaming

JULIE POLL is a script writer for The Bay, an Emmy award-winning digital series  streaming on Amazon Prime. In soaps 20+ years, Julie was a script writer for As The World Turns and wrote the anniversary books for As The World Turns, Guiding Light, and Another World. She was Consulting Producer for the 2008 Daytime Emmy Show which aired on ABC. Other writing credits include scripts for the hosts of America Movie Classics (AMC) and for Katie Couric for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Julie is a script reader for the Meryl Streep funded New York Women In Film, Television Writers Lab, and the Austin Film Festival. She taught a professional Sitcom Writing Seminar for the NY Television Academy and the Writers Guild of America, East, and was a New York Women In Film and Television scriptwriting mentor. She is on the Daytime Emmy Awards Advisory Panel and the Board of Governors of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, New York Chapter.  Julie is a lifetime member of the Writers Guild of America, East.
