The Foundation of The New York Chapter
The Foundation of the New York Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences is a Not-for-Profit Corporation, dedicated to conducting activities which are exclusively charitable, literary, and educational in order to cultivate and encourage interest in the arts and sciences of television. We promote and encourage talent and ability in the composition, creation and performance of works for television.
The Foundation was reinvigorated in 2003 thanks to a generous gift from the estate of Rosalind Black Begman, actress and New York Chapter member from 1973 until her death in July 2003. The Foundation grants scholarships in her name to graduate students in documentary production at New York University and Columbia University to complete their thesis projects. Beginning in 2005, thanks to his generous donation, the Foundation has added the Maury Povich Scholarship for undergraduate media majors, as well.
The Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors and Officers entirely separate from that of the New York Chapter.
