Summer greetings to everyone!

As another Emmy® year winds down, I would like to thank all of you who participated in the 2017-2018 season.  We had 1880 submissions during our CALL FOR ENTRY period.  After judging from 9 of our sister chapters, 541 nominations were announced in 116 categories.  A total of 125 Emmy statuettes were handed out at our 61st Annual New York Emmy Awards on Saturday, April 14.  We incorporated video clips of the Emmy® recipient for each category for the first time this year.  It really added interest and helped the pace of the gala.

Kaity Tong was her usual energetic self and was ebullient as she accepted the Governors’ Award in front of the 714 people in attendance.

Catch all the excitement from the gala. Pictures can be found here.  You can also watch the livestream here.

Dr. Mehmet Oz was in the audience when I announced the New York Chapter’s association with the Sharecare Foundation at our 60th Anniversary NY Emmy® Awards.  Stay tuned for more details on the Sharecare Awards and the special waiver that some 2017-2018 New York Emmy® Award recipients will have.

Please reach out to Sean Schenk, Director of Awards & Communication, if you have not completed your mandatory judging assignments.  This will save you money during our next Emmy® season.  It also allows you to see the outstanding work being done by our other media colleagues around the nation.

Congratulations to our New York Board of Governors colleague Colleen Zenk for her starring role in HELLO DOLLY.  Colleen has a musical theatre background and had a successful run at The Little Theatre on the Square in Illinois playing Dolly Gallagher-Levi.  Daytime drama fans will remember Colleen for her Emmy-nominated portrayal of Barbara Ryan on the long running AS THE WORLD TURNS. We look forward to saying “Hello Colleen, it’s so nice to have you back where you belong!”

Enjoy September!
