IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT - STREAMING AWARDS

Monday, April 13, 2020

An Important Message from New York Chapter President, N. J. Burkett:

I hope that you are well and coping with the COVID-19 pandemic, as best you can.

As you are aware, The Board of Governors and I canceled our annual NY Emmy® Awards gala, scheduled for April 18th

However, I am thrilled to announce that our 2020 awards presentation will be made online.  Production on a streaming awards show is underway and our NY Emmy honorees will be announced beginning at 7PM EDT on Saturday, April 25th.  Our sealed envelopes will be opened on video by a variety of solo presenters in different locations throughout the metropolitan area.

This unprecedented, exclusively online New York Emmy Awards show will be streamed on our website NYEmmys.org.  Since we will be unable to accommodate acceptance speeches within the streaming show, we encourage you to be creative and shoot your own acceptance speeches and post them to social media using our official hashtag, #NYEmmys2020.  We will be watching and we will share them!

We also intend to stream the show on Facebook Live, via our Facebook page @NYEmmyAwards.

There has been so little to cheer about these days.  We get that.  So, here’s hoping you can organize Zoom and BlueJeans watch parties with your colleagues, friends, and family.  (Tuxedos and ball gowns are optional, but encouraged, along with a champagne toast to celebrate excellence!)

Never once—since 1957—have we had more entries and more nominees.  We received well-over two thousand submissions.  The judges nominated nearly seven hundred entries (in how many categories?) and more than one hundred forty of you will be honored with the prestigious Emmy.

Congratulations to all of our nominees—and best of luck!  See you on Saturday, April 25th

Best regards,

N.J. Burkett, President
