64TH ANNUAL NY EMMY® AWARDS NOMINATIONS ANNOUNCEMENT

New York, NY, June 25, 2021 – The National Academy of Television Arts &  Sciences, New York Chapter is proud to announce that the nominations for the  64th Annual NY Emmy ® Awards will be revealed in a livestream telecast on June 30th at 9:30AM ET.  

WABC-TV will host the nominations announcement, which will be broadcast from  the station’s LIVE with Kelly and Ryan studio on Manhattan’s Upper West Side.  

President and General Manager of WABC-TV Chad Matthews welcomed the New  York Emmys to their studios. “WABC-TV is pleased to be hosting the NY NATAS  chapter in our studios for this year’s NY Emmy Award nominations,” he said.  “Congratulations to all the nominees for your historic coverage and content  during a period unlike any other.” 

Presenting the nominations will be New York Chapter President and WABC-TV  Correspondent N. J. Burkett, News 12 Long Island Correspondent Virginia Huie, WCBS-TV Anchor Jessica Moore and WPIX-TV Senior Correspondent and NY NATAS Awards Chair Marvin Scott. All are previous Emmy Award honorees. 

“New York’s media professionals have been anxiously anticipating the NY Emmy  nominations for months,” Burkett said. “We are thrilled to have the support of  Chad Matthews and his team at WABC-TV, which will become the first commercial television station to host our nominations announcement.” 

The eligibility period for entries covered sixteen months, from September 1, 2019  to December 31, 2020. The entries were judged by blue ribbon panels of professionals from 15 other regional NATAS Chapters. There were over 2100 entries in 189 categories, both a New York Chapter all-time record. 

Burkett added, “The nominations are known only to our accountants, Lutz and Carr, and will remain a closely-guarded secret until they are announced by our  presenters during our New York Emmy livestream. Thanks to the thousands of my esteemed colleagues who entered, and here’s wishing all of them the best of luck!” 

The Emmy Awards will be presented in the fall, whether virtually or in-person will be determined in the coming weeks, along with the date and time of the ceremony.  

The livestream of the nominations announcement will be available via the  various Emmy® apps for iOS, tvOS, Android, FireTV, Roku, Samsung Smart TVs  and on the web at Watch.TheEmmys.tv. It will also be available on the NY  NATAS website www.nyemmys.org and on our Facebook page www.facebook.com/NewYorkEmmyAwards.
