Peter Buffett in Concert and Conversation

An Evening with Peter Buffett in Concert & Conversation, with special guest Warren Buffett

Concert & Conversation serves as an entertaining and informative look into the life of a man with a truly unique upbringing. As the son of Warren Buffett, his open discussion about the things he was taught, the lessons he's learned, and their effect in creating the man he's become acts as a true testament that life is never a straight road. No matter what your background, Peter's take on "earning your own reward" will find resonance audiences today. His musical performance sets the evening with a more casual atmosphere, while his honest and frank discussion imparts the weight of the knowledge he has to pass along.

This is an invitation only performance in the media and entertainment industry. Peter will be performing for 90 minutes and there will be a private reception with our guest of honor, Warren Buffett, on the roof-top at Paley. Tickets are $1000 of which $600 is tax deductable and helps to support The Paley Center for Media (http://www.paleycenter.org/). The ticket also includes access to 3 other events and receptions over the course of the year at the Paley Center.

There are a limited number of tickets available and the invitation is being extended from NATAS NY board member Lydia Loizides.

Emmy® award winning musician Peter Buffett’s career spans over 25 years of success as a professional songwriter, composer, film scorer, producer, artist, performer, recording engineer, indie label owner and music marketer. Peter is also co-chair of NoVo Foundation, a charitable non-profit corporation with over $1-billion in funding by his father Warren Buffett.

Peter started formal music lessons at age six after banging away on the piano since he was big enough to climb up on the bench. In 1979, after Stanford University he began his professional musical career. He landed his first breakthrough job in 1981 audio-branding the logo for MTV, leading to jobs with ad agencies in San Francisco writing commercial jingles for clients including the California Milk Advisory Board, Sprint, CNN Headline News, and Coca-Cola. His agency contacts led to composing and film scoring opportunities.

Peter went on to score the "Fire Dance" in the Oscar winning film Dances With Wolves and performed at the film’s premiere. He composed the full score for 500 Nations, the eight hour CBS miniseries produced by Kevin Costner, and two songs on the soundtrack for The Scarlet Letter.

Peter’s theatrical production, Spirit – The Seventh Fire, was performed on the National Mall for the Smithsonian’s opening of the National Museum of the American Indian. Spirit went on to tour in several other cities and is currently in development for international markets including Europe, Asia and the Middle East. The show encompassed Imax-scale film and imagery, all native dancers and a live band to tell the story of one man’s journey towards reconnection through his heritage and the land we live on.

From 1987 to the present, Peter has released 15 records—over one every 18 months. He’s held recording contracts with Narada, Epic and Hollywood Records, and now owns indie labels BisonHead and Beside Records.

Currently Peter is collaborating with Grammy nominated and Billboard Hot 100 artist Akon who is featured on a remix of Peter’s song "Anything" from his latest release Staring at the Sun. In June 2008 they launched the social action website http://istheresomethingicando.com to promote sharing of stories and resources to help make the world a better place.
