cumentary covers from Post War Germany, East and West, to the dynamic Germ
any of today. \; Renowned journalists artists, filmmakers, scholars in
cluding Richard Bernstein, Berlin Bureau Chief, The New York Times
candidly discuss their first contact with America and how it con
tinues to shape their lives. \; "\;From Hip-Hop to Google, Star Wa
rs"\; \; to George W. Bush, a fascinating picture emerges of a cou
ntry whose battles have become internal, with one side revering America

&ldquo\;When I star
ted Blau Jeans, I began it as a cultural documentary to s
ee how American culture had an effect on the European and German psyche, i
n their lives growing up with movies and songs. And that led me to this bi
g cloud of anti-Americanism. I discovered why they love us and why they ha
te us. There are certain characteristics that have come to be known as
9\;American'\; that Germans in Blau Jeans really artic
ulate. Some are wonderful virtues and others are not so nice.&rdquo\;
About the Filmmaker:
Meaghan Kimball \;is an accomplis
hed creative producer, director, and writer with a proven track record in
the
\;competitive field of broadcast television and new media. \;
Meaghan has produced award-winning promos for HBO, History Channel, Ameri
can Express, Rock the Vote, and directed A-list talent like Claire Danes.
Blau Jeans, produced through her production company MVK F
ilms, won numerous awards on the film festival circuit, including
Grand Remi Award, Worldfest Houston International Film Festival and Best F
eature Documentary, Rhode Island International Film Festival, Best Interna
tional Documentary ITV Fest Los Angeles and merited international
press from BBC. She has guest-lectured atUnivers
ity Of California, San Diego Department of European Studies and e
arned finalist for the German Chancellor Scholarship. Mea
ghan holds an M.F.A. in Screenwriting from the American Film Institute and
a B.F.A. in Film and Television from New York University'\;s Tisch Sch
ool of the Arts. She currently resides in Manhattan where she is a writer-
producer with HBO Creative Services.
