  membership.\n	\n		 \n	\n		In &ldquo\;SprayMasters,&rdquo\; four ex-graffi
 ti writers reflect on their early years as renegades who sneaked into rail
  yards and decorated New York subway cars with stolen paint, while eluding
  arrest by the authorities.  Now in their 40&rsquo\;s and embraced by the 
 establishment, Lee Qui&ntilde\;ones, Lady Pink, and Futura 2000 are promin
 ent artists with an international following, while  Zephyr is a widely pub
 lished journalist who writes about popular culture. They talk about the ex
 treme risks they took as teenagers, the joys of seeing their work on subwa
 y cars, the diverse styles of graffiti, its global reach, and its place in
  modern life, where it has been co-opted by advertising and fashion. &ldqu
 o\;SprayMasters&rdquo\; is a follow-up to Kirchheimer&rsquo\;s classic &ld
 quo\;Stations of the Elevated&rdquo\; (1980), the first film to feature Ne
 w York&rsquo\;s infamous subway graffiti.  Although the exuberant trains a
 re gone, they live again in &ldquo\;SprayMasters&rdquo\; in extensive, nev
 er-before-seen footage, set to an electrifying musical soundtrack that evo
 kes the heyday of graffiti.\n	\n		 \n	\n		About the Filmmaker:\n	\n		Manfr
 ed Kirchheimer is an independent filmmaker who has won awards here and abr
 oad for such films as &ldquo\;Art Is. . . The Permanent Revolution,&rdquo\
 ;  &ldquo\;Tall,&rdquo\;  &ldquo\;We Were So Beloved,&rdquo\; &ldquo\;Stat
 ions of the Elevated,&rdquo\;  &ldquo\;Bridge High,&rdquo\;  &ldquo\;Short
  Circuit,&rdquo\; &ldquo\;Claw,&rdquo\;  &ldquo\;Haiku,&rdquo\;  &ldquo\;L

 imer teaches film production at the School of Visual Arts in New York City
 , and  is currently finishing a documentary about the men and women who co
