\n"Paris 1919" - winner in the Historical Documentary category, runner-up
for the special Jury Grand Prize at the Banff Television Festival in June
2009\n \nFor six months in 1919, Paris was the capital of the world. The
last shots had just been fired in the most devastating war of all time --
and the old global order lay in tatters.\n \nDelegations from over 30 nati
ons urgently descended upon Paris for the most ambitious peace talks in hi
story. At the helm were the Big Four: U.S. President Woodrow Wilson along
with the leaders of France, the U.K. and Italy.\n \nTheir goal was to draf
t a peace treaty "for all time," creating instead an embittered Germany al
ready dreaming of retaliation -- and contentious new entities like Iraq an
 d Yugoslavia.\n \nIn a compelling story that blends re-enactments with arc
hival images, director/writer/photographer Paul Cowan captures the dramati
c cut-and-thrust of diplomacy, while evoking the extraordinary atmosphere
of a metropolis returning to life.\n \nInspired by the book "Paris 1919: S
ix Months That Changed The World" written by Canadian historian Margaret M
acMillan, "Paris 1919" the film was produced by the National Film Board of
Canada in co-production with 13 Production in association with Galafilm,
