"HERMITAGE MASTERPIECES"
A Visit To See Some Of The World's Greatest Art

One of the world's greatest museums, the Hermitage, in St. Petersburg, Russia, is the home of countless masterpieces of Western and Eastern art. For those who may not as yet had the opportunity to go to the Hermitage, this will be a special tour of this great art collection rarely, if ever, before exhibited in the U.S. "HM" is a series of 18 half-hour programs from the most complete global history of art ever produced.  At tonight’s Meet the Filmmaker, 2 of the 18 programs in this series will be shown:  "The Road To Impressionism--19th Century France", and "Modernism: Matisse, Picasso and other 20th Century Painters".  "The Road To Impressionism" includes paintings by Monet, Renoir, Pissaro and Degas.  "Modernism..." includes the Post-Impressionist painters Van Gogh, Cezanne and Gauguin as well as masterpieces of Matisse and Picasso.  The series has been a huge hit on many U.S. PBS stations from coast-to-coast, and is currently showing weekly in New York on WLIW-TV, and also on PBS New Jersey Television/NJTV. Co-Executive Producer Chertok will present a "sample" of the series--just 2 of them--together with an interesting backstory of how this project came to be produced, and how his company, Quartet International, Inc. successfully distributed it worldwide.
